Social marketing as a creative endeavor

When it comes to social media, think self-expression not self-promotion.

If you’re a successful author, you’ve probably already overcome any lingering fears about “putting yourself out there.” Yet, as an author, the need for self-promotion still can’t help but make you a little uncomfortable (unless you’re a marketer-writer-guru such as Seth Godin or Tim Ferriss). Susan M. Cain, author of the upcoming book QUIET: The Power of Introverts in a World That Can’t Stop Talking isn’t writing specifically for authors in her post “Seven Ideas on How to Overcome Fear and Become More Creative,” but what she says will resonate with you. Particularly her #2 tip for helping those leery of social media to get past that. Her six other tips are perhaps a little more personal, but all the more interesting for that. Check out Susan’s full ideas on her blog here.
